An ultra-high pressure stream of water (20,000 to 40,000 psi) can do incredible things. Add to it abrasive grit media and you have the capability of cutting through a foot or more of solid concrete with ¾ inch rebar or cutting through an inch or more of stainless steel.
Bodine’s specially designed fixtures coupled with high pressure water blasters can be used to cut openings in steel tanks, remove sections of concrete walls or roof and cut in a variety of other challenging circumstances. This method is used frequently when conventional cutting techniques such as abrasive wheels and torches are not well suited for the application.
In one recent application, Bodine utilized this equipment to remove a large section of 12” reinforced concrete roof so our client could use a crane to remove and replace certain equipment. For safety reasons, conventional cutting methods could not be used without shutting down a large portion of the production operations. Using the water cutting method allowed the client to remain in production in adjacent manufacturing cells.
