Bodine Environmental Services is pleased to be a corrective action contractor for the Illinois EPA and to have been chosen to participate in remedial activities associated with Leaking Underground Storage Tanks also known as LUST sites. Bodine has decades of experience removing leaking underground tanks and returning sites to commercial viability after years of abandonment.
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (Illinois EPA) intends to close out as many abandoned or orphaned leaking underground storage tank (LUST) sites as possible, and issue a No Further Remediation (NFR) Letters to facilitate the redevelopment of the property for productive re-use as quickly as possible.
A Federal trust fund was established in 1986 and financed by a 0.1 cent tax on motor fuel to be used in the oversight and under some circumstances the cleanup of leaking storage tank sites. In the case of Illinois, a State trust fund exists for similar purposes and several laws govern the use of the funds. Bodine is well acquainted with the rules and regulations that govern the removal of UST’s and we stand ready to assist you in these activities.
