Ultra-high pressure jetting creates no dust or vapor and is effective on a variety of materials including steel, concrete and refractory. |
Bodine Services takes great pride in a 48-year history of working with clients to find cost-effective solutions to a wide variety of operational challenges. One such innovative solution is ultra-high pressure (UHP) water jetting for cutting steel, concrete and other materials. At times, garnet-grit media is added to the water stream to increase the cutting power of the blast stream.
There are many benefits that result from using water jetting to cut dense materials when compared to other mechanical cutting methods. Conventional methods such as saws, torches and drills produce tremendous heat and may compromise the structural integrity of the metal material. In addition, special safety precautions and “Hot Work Permits” are required when torches or abrasive wheels are used. Cutting with water jetting technology does not generate heat, virtually eliminating the possibility of fire or explosion. Additional benefits include the absence of noxious gases and vapors that may result from conventional cutting methods.

Bodine has many years of experience using water jetting to cut steel, concrete and rebar, laminates, refractory and other materials. Cutting pressures of up to 20,000 psi with and without the introduction of garnet abrasives are used to safely and effectively complete each job. Bud Brozio, Vice-President of Operations for Bodine Services of Decatur said that “Ultra high pressure cutting has been an important addition to the services we offer.” “Clients who have used this service have been very pleased with the results. We can do some tasks now that we really did not have a good solution for previously.”
If you have been holding off from completing a project because you just do not know how to get past some of the challenges, please give Bodine a call.
