Asbestos Inspection
Until about 1980, asbestos was used in building construction as insulation (pipes, boilers) and as an ingredient of building materials (cement board, shingles, floor tile). Usually the friable form (crush it into powder with your bare hands) is the more hazardous due to the fine particles becoming suspended in the air if it is disturbed. Asbestos is not ordinarily released from the building materials unless they are broken or sawed. Asbestos removal requires costly and elaborate procedures to prevent release of the fibers into the surrounding air or inhalation by the workers or other persons in the vicinity. It may be that proper sealing of existing installations can save the expense of removal. Bodine Services has the experience, equipment, and trained, certified personnel to help you solve your asbestos problems.

Lead-Base Paint Inspections
Peeling, chipping, chalking, or cracking lead-based paint is a hazard and needs immediate attention. Lead is especially dangerous to children under 6 years old. Lead was widely used in interior and exterior paint prior to 1978. If the paint is in good, sound condition, it can be painted over, but not sanded. Call Bodine Services for a prompt and thorough inspection of your premises by trained, certified professionals who can help you limit your lead paint liabilities.
NPDES Permit Consulting
The National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) regulates point sources of discharge into surface waters. Point sources are things like ditches or pipes. Facilities such as those used for agriculture, industrial / commercial, sewage and wastewater treatment, animal feeding operations, and stormwater collection are subject to the NPDES permitting process. Illinois is an Approved State under the NPDES permitting program. Bodine Services has the experience, and trained / certificated personnel to help you determine the effluent limits and monitoring and reporting requirements you will need on your NPDES Permit.
Groundwater Monitor
Consulting
Groundwater monitoring at your facility can include monitoring for detection, compliance, and corrective action. Your monitoring program must be designed for the specific geology and hydrology of your site. Sampling and analytical procedures must be appropriate to ensure accurate and representative sampling. There must be a sufficient number of wells to measure water quality at the uppermost aquifer. Bodine Services has the experience, equipment, and trained / certificated personnel to help you meet your ground water monitoring requirements.
Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations
The federal Clean Water Act, and additional state statutes and regulations, regulate the discharge of wastewater. The number of substances regulated continues to increase. Operators must have knowledge of math, chemistry, and biology as well as the regulations. Whether the plant is a municipal operation, or a private facility discharging into a municipal system, the requirements are challenging, especially in an emergency such as a heavy rainstorm. Bodine Services has the training and certifications to assist you with wastewater problems.
RCRA Plan Development and Audits
The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) requires plans for emergencies, contingencies, and corrective actions. Audits for compliance can be either self-audits or unannounced audits by a regulatory agency. Bodine Services can help you meet the regulatory requirements of the Act and help you with a self-audit to ensure ongoing compliance. Use Bodine's 45 years' experience to save compliance costs and regulatory hassles.
SPCC Plan Development and Recertification
Spill Prevention and Control Countermeasures (SPCC) are required if your facility needs to prevent the discharge of oil into navigable waters. If you have oil containers larger than a 55-gallon drum, you may be subject to these regulations. Discharge includes spilling, dumping, or leaking. You need a plan for spill prevention, containment, spill response, and it needs to be certified by a registered professional engineer (PE) and re-certified if technical changes are made. Bodine Services has the capacity to help you develop and certify your plan, as well as some of the materials you will need to be stocking for emergency spill response.
